Last updated: September 6, 2026
Scuttlecat operates this store and website, including all related content, features, tools, products and services (the "Services"). Scuttlecat is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services to you.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with when you visit our site, buy something, or contact us. If anything in our Terms of Service conflicts with this policy, this policy takes precedence on questions of personal information.
By using the Services you confirm you have read and understood this policy.
Information we collect
"Personal information" means information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you. It does not include anonymous or de-identified information. Depending on how you use the Services and where you live, we may collect or process:
- Contact details — your name, billing address, shipping address, phone number, and email address.
- Payment information — card and financial account details, transaction details, payment method, and payment confirmations.
- Account information — username, password, preferences, and settings.
- Transaction information — items you view, add to your cart, buy, return, exchange, or cancel, and your order history.
- Your messages to us — anything you include when you contact us, such as a support email.
- Device information — your device, browser, network connection, IP address, and other unique identifiers.
- Usage information — how and when you interact with and move around the Services.
We may also draw inferences from the above.
Where it comes from
- Directly from you, when you order, create an account, or contact us.
- Automatically, from your device when you use the site, including through cookies and similar technologies.
- From our service providers, when they collect or process information on our behalf.
- From our partners and other third parties.
How we use it
- To provide and improve the Services. Processing your payment, fulfilling and shipping your order, handling returns and exchanges, managing your account, remembering your preferences, sending you notifications about your order, letting you post reviews, and recommending products.
- Marketing and advertising. Sending promotional emails, and showing you ads for our products on this site and elsewhere, including based on what you have viewed or added to your cart.
- Security and fraud prevention. Authenticating your account, keeping payments secure, and detecting or acting on fraudulent, illegal, or malicious activity. If you create an account, keeping your login details safe is your responsibility — please do not share them.
- Communicating with you. Providing customer support and responding to your questions.
- Legal reasons. Complying with the law, responding to valid legal requests, and enforcing or investigating breaches of our terms.
Who we share it with
- Shopify, vendors and other providers who perform services for us, such as payment processing, IT, analytics, customer support, cloud storage, fulfillment, and shipping.
- Business and marketing partners, to advertise to you. We use Shopify to support personalized advertising based on your activity across different merchants and websites. These partners handle your information under their own privacy notices. Depending on where you live, you can opt out of this at .
- Third parties you ask us to share with, such as a carrier delivering your order, or through social media widgets and login integrations.
- In a business transaction such as a merger or bankruptcy, to meet legal obligations including subpoenas and warrants, to enforce our terms, or to protect our rights and the rights of others.
Our relationship with Shopify
The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes information about your use of the site in order to provide and improve it. Information you submit is shared with Shopify and may be transmitted to third parties located in countries other than your own.
We also use certain Shopify enhanced features that draw on data from your interactions with our store, other merchants, and Shopify. For those features Shopify is responsible for processing your personal information, including responding to requests about it. You can read the , and depending on where you live you may be able to exercise rights through the .
Third party sites
Our site may link to sites we do not operate or control. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, their security, or the accuracy of what they publish, and linking to them is not an endorsement. Please read their policies before giving them your information. Anything you post in a public or semi-public place, including on social platforms, may be visible to others.
Children
The Services are not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority where they live. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us their information, email us and we will delete it. As of the date above, we have no actual knowledge that we share or sell the personal information of anyone under 16.
Security and how long we keep your information
No security measures are perfect, and information you send us may not be secure while in transit, so please do not use unsecured channels to send us anything sensitive.
How long we keep your personal information depends on why we have it — whether we still need it to run your account, provide the Services, meet legal obligations, resolve a dispute, or enforce our policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. They are not absolute, they may only apply in certain circumstances, and in some cases we may decline a request where the law permits.
- Access. Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Deletion. Ask us to delete personal information we hold about you.
- Correction. Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate.
- Portability. Receive a copy of your information, and ask us to transfer it to someone else, with certain exceptions.
- Opting out of sale or sharing for targeted advertising. Depending on where you live, you can opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information, or of processing for targeted advertising, at . If you visit our site with the Global Privacy Control signal enabled, we will treat that as an opt-out request for that browser and device, and for your account where we can match it. You can read about GPC at . We do not currently recognize other "Do Not Track" signals.
- Managing what we send you. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any of them. We may still send you non-promotional messages about your account or your orders.
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you also have the right to:
- Object to or restrict processing for certain purposes.
- Withdraw consent, where we rely on it. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing we carried out before you withdrew it.
To exercise any of these, email us using the details below. For information held by Shopify, see .
We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. We may need to verify your identity first. You can appoint an authorized agent to act for you, but we will ask them for proof you authorized them, and we may still need to verify your identity directly. We will respond within the time the law requires.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, email us and we will look into it. Depending on where you live, you may be able to appeal our decision, or complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EEA you can find the relevant authority through the .
International transfers
We may transfer, store, and process your personal information outside the country you live in.
Where we transfer information out of the UK or the European Economic Area, we rely on recognized safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or the UK equivalent, unless the destination country has been formally recognized as providing adequate protection.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in how we work, or for legal or operational reasons. We will post the updated version here, change the date at the top, and give notice where the law requires it.
